Alrighty. So, how've you been?
We've been busy. So busy, in fact, that I'm going to skip ahead in pictures for a bit here to catch up and we'll just see
if I can catch up on the ones between late April up to two weeks ago. We'll just see.
Random pictures are always fun, especially with the way that Henry has been hamming it up and how Hazel's been
mugging very strangely when the camera is on. The kids have a new playhouse (thanks, Grandma and Papa!) out on
the deck and they both love it. Hazel is also loving her strawberry plants from Grandma Crystal and has a hard time
waiting for each batch of berries to ripen so she can cram them into her mouth. No time to even wash them or walk
them inside.
We have also been visiting the old family beach out on Whidbey Island lately, and we've been having a lot of fun there.
These shots are from the most recent time we visited, and Auntie Rebecca came with us. It was a very, very low tide
and there were quite a few homeless 18-legged sea stars lying around, and also tons of jellyfish. They must have been
taken unawares!
Henry is toddling about the house now and gaining more confidence each day that he walks. Hazel is (finally, sheesh)
potty trained. I have this weird feeling that we probably could have accomplished this much earlier, but really, it was
such a breeze that I'm actually also really glad that we waited so long. The frustration level was extremely low, and
Hazel is really proud of herself and loves wearing My Little Pony and Disney Princess panties. She freaked me out
last night by coming out of her room at 4am and standing in the hallway quietly. I woke up and realized she was out
there, called her name, and she said she needed to go potty.
Hazel is also showing a lot of interest in the clock and time, but I am not sure just how aware she is of the concept of
time. She knows that when the clock says 7 that it's time for PJ's and that when the clock says 8 it's bedtime, but then
this morning she asked me "what does it mean when it's pointing at 9 and 6?" and I suddenly found myself in a quagmire
of trying to convey 9:30am to her. It isn't so easy...hmm.
Henry is trying to say more words all the time...even "clock"! I can tell when he's trying to say "look", "book", "hello",
"milk", and "woof" and "meow". And he created a sign for hat, which is patting on his head. It was so funny to me the
other day when I put on his jacket to go out and then he started patting himself on the head to remind me to put his hat
on, then started to pat my head as well. "Don't forget your hat, mom!"

Time for another tasty fresh batch of pictures for you to enjoy, the first being the obligatory random shots around the
house. We also got some great shots at Mr. Kai Noa's very special second birthday party that we'd like to share. You
might notice that Hazel seemed to think that it was HER birthday, which was kind of exasperating. Mind you, she also
thinks that Christmas is coming again soon, and this idea of hers wasn't helped at all by the sudden appearance of 7"
of snow last week. We got to go out a few times in it, documented here and here.

Hazel had a wonderful time at her third birthday party, and thanks to all of you who came out to make the day special
for her. Here are two sets of pictures: one and two.

Henry continues to expand his world. Here are a couple of sets of pictures from the past couple of weeks--bathtime,
playtime, Kai time, and weird times as well.

Okay, let's all breathe a collective sigh of relief---the holidays are over. But I suppose you're here because you are
a little curious about the Christmas carnage at our home, so I must oblige.
We spent Christmas Eve with my parents and my mom's side of the family. We had a nice dinner at Aunt Val and
Uncle Charley's place and opened up presents. Hazel was full of glee, and Henry was flirting as well.
Christmas morning and day were spent at home, and Auntie Rebecca and Grandma Crystal and Grandpa Vic
arrived early for breakfast and presents. Hazel was beside herself as she received princess dress-up stuff, an
Ariel keyboard, and a Cinderella vanity. The house looked like a toy factory had exploded, and it took several
days for us to fully recover. I'm still finding wrapping paper and ribbon tucked around the living room.
And we had a super nice visit from Jason's Uncle Larry and Aunt Elizabeth. They had just flown in from Switzerland
and had been visiting Elizabeth's mom. They were wonderful enough to drive all the way up from Puyallup just to
see the kids and eat some pizza. We had a great time.
This week was special in that Hazel's best friend Kai started his new routine of spending Mondays and Wednesdays
with us. I think we all had a great time this last Wednesday, which was his first day. You can see from the pictures
that we had fun.
In other news, Hazel has been assuring her dad that she's "not a hippie," and she responded "old" when I asked her
how old I was. Henry is scooching along the floor; I think that it's officially called crawling! It's totally changed his
demeanor now that he knows he can get himself to where he wants to go. Awww, my little man is growing up.
And last but not least, here are some recent random pictures with a couple of very special shots for a certain
grandma who was feeling a little put out by a certain toddler's attitude toward a certain sweater.

Here are a load of pictures from this month, starting with some random shots.
Bill and Maxine were up this last weekend to celebrate Christmas with us before heading down to Sarah and Laustin's
for Christmas. Here are some pictures of the present bonanza. Hazel and Henry had a blast!
And then there are the obligatory photos around the Christmas tree. Beware, there are a lot of them!

It's snowing like a, a snowmonster here. But anyway, we had a really great Thanksgiving with all of the joy that family
and multiple pounds of turkey can bring. We were lucky enough to have two, count them, TWO camera angles for
the big event, thanks to the resident Papa Bill.
I had to break the pictures up into three manageable batches for you, and the first are the best of Jason's Camera.
Here you get to see several of Hazel's favorite parts of the holiday, which include cousins Ariada and Elia, matching
dresses and pajamas, and Grandma Maxine's last few flowers of fall.
The second batch is from Bill's Camera. These are the pre-holiday pictures which include some nice shots of
Uncle Laustin and Aunt Sarah, as well as fun wagon rides and cookie making escapades.
The third batch is also from Bill's Camera, and go from Turkey Day to the day after. We tried to get a nice group
shot of the kids in their matching clothes--it was hard!
Anyway, we're back home now and it definitely feels like Christmas is coming on. The ground is all white and I'm
getting the decorations out. Whoopee!

Here are some more pictures of Henry and his cuteness, and a few shots of Hazel wearing her new hat Mommy
made for her.

Hello, we raked leaves today. Had to do it before the rain kicked in again. Check out the haps.

Here are a few shots of Henry. He's been going through a lot of growing up lately, and I think his personality is really
starting to come through. He has also started saying "mama" off and on, usually when he's getting irritated and wants,
hmm, guess who? We trained him to get himself to sleep last week and it was total breeze compared to when we
did the same for Hazel. He rolled over and went nighty-night with no crying on only the fourth night! Wow.
On other news fronts, our good friend John brought us a new kitten and we've named her Ash. We mostly named
her that because she's grey, but it's not a coincidence that it's also the name of Bruce Campbell's most enduring and
endearing character from Evil Dead I and II, as well as the awesome Army of Darkness. A couple of shots of
Ash are up as well. She is very sweet, and Hazel keeps scaring her by running up to her and yelling, "I LOVE YOU
TEENY KITTY!"

We had a great Halloween today! We went to the mall twice--once in the morning with Auntie Rebecca
(with Hazel as Tinkerbell), and once in the afternoon/evening with Kai and Sarah and Maurio (with Hazel
as Cinderella and Kai as a Seattle Mariner). Henry was a lumberjack, wearing Carhartt overalls and a
Hickory shirt courtesy of Uncle Charley and Aunt Val, and a curly mustache and a Play-Doh saw to hold.
Of course, I neglected to bring our camera, but we did videotape some of the candy carnage after we got home.
Milestones lately: Henry is easily sitting up on his own, and he loves to do so for 20-30 minutes at a time.
He is also rolling across the room when he feels like it (he is kind of getting his sitting groove on right now).
Hazel is noticing peoples' emotions more and whether they are "happy" or "sad" and when she gets upset
she says she's sad. It makes you want to cry, but it's so cute! Her vocabulary is also going through its own
little rennaissance. On the other hand, her fashion sense needs a little help.
It feels good to be back! Check out the pictures below.

Here is the new look--stripped down and functional. Because function is what really matters in the end, eh?
